How do I get a library card?
Your Selkirk College student ID card is also your library card.
Student ID cards are available from the libraries at Castlegar, Tenth St. and Silver King campuses and from the Trail campus.
Students who have an ID card and who have a library account can access library services.
How can I access library databases remotely?
Use your campus wide login (CWL) to access databases remotely. This includes access from home or from a wireless device on campus.
How do I access My Library Account?
The My Library Account feature on the library homepage allows you to see what materials you have checked out and to renew these materials.
Login using your library account. Your User ID is your student number. By default, your password is the last four digits of your student number. It is strongly advised to change your password after the initial login.

I'm out of print credits. What do I do?
Students are provided 100 free pages of printing at the start of each new semester. When you run out of print credits, you can purchase more to add to your account in the Library at a cost of 10 cents per page. The Circulation Desk at the Castlegar, Silver King and/or Tenth St. Libraries can process the credits for you. The main campus Library (Castlegar) only takes cash at this time for print credits.

The book I want is checked out or at another campus library. How do I get it?
Use the “Place Hold” feature in the library catalogue to request an item that is at another campus or checked out to another user.
How do I renew my library materials?
You can renew in person, by phone, or online by using the My Library Account link from the library catalogue webpage.
My instructor has placed items on reserve. What does this mean?
Reserve material is especially selected by the instructor for use by students in a particular class. The material is located behind the Library's Circulation Desk and often has a shortened loan period (2 hours, overnight, 1 day, etc) so that everyone in the class can gain access. Reserves are available on a First Come, First Served basis.
You can search for a particular reserve using the library catalog under the Reserves link, or inquire at the Circulation Desk.
How do I request an interlibrary loan for a book that isn't available at Selkirk College Library?
If Selkirk College doesn’t have the item you need, whether it is a book , journal article, or video you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. Use the Interlibrary Loans link to make a request, or speak to a library staff member.
Note: Textbooks for courses cannot be interlibrary loaned

How do I book AV Equipment or a DVD?
Equipment, such as laptops or video recorders, and DVDs can be booked in advance for a particular date. This includes the Library's own DVDs as well as those available from other BC postsecondary libraries.
It is very important to request bookings as early as possible, especially in the case of videos/DVDs from other libraries.
